I. THE VANISHING OF THE BULACAN FOUR (2025)

On August 8, 2025, social media was flooded with the photos of four young women who had mysteriously vanished. The missing were identified as Jimelen Avoc (21), a single mom; Josie Rose Gruta (21); Perla Andaya (18); and the youngest, Rachel Gregorio (15).

All four were friends and worked at a bar in Bulacan offering massage services. According to their families, the group left together on August 4, 2025, for a job in Bocaue, Bulacan. By 8:00 PM that night, all communication ceased.

Desperate family members accessed Perla’s Facebook account and discovered messages from a man named Emmanuel Dio (38). The chat logs revealed that Emmanuel had booked the vehicle for them and explicitly instructed Perla not to tell the others where they were truly going—a massive red flag.

Emmanuel became the primary Person of Interest. Police tracked his location but found his phone turned off. Authorities suspected a case of Human Trafficking, especially given Rachel’s status as a minor.

II. THE SUSPECT IN THE FISHPOND

On August 18, the families sought help from a Senator’s program, desperate for answers after two weeks of silence. However, a shocking twist derailed the investigation. Police received reports that Emmanuel Dio was deceased.

On August 10—just days after the women vanished—Emmanuel’s body was found floating in a fishpond in Marilao, Bulacan. His sister, Raquel, confirmed his identity through personal effects found on the body. Emmanuel, who worked odd jobs in construction and delivery, had allegedly drowned, though the timing raised immense suspicion.

With the primary suspect dead, the trail went cold. The police admitted they had no other leads on the location of the bar or the destination of the women, as online transactions often hide the physical location until the last minute. The mothers of the victims remain in agony, particularly Josie’s mother, who is now raising her daughter’s siblings alone, haunted by the regret of allowing her child to leave that night.

III. THE ARCHITECTURE STUDENT AND THE “MODELING” TRAP (2016)

Our second story takes us back to 2016 in Indang, Cavite. Melissa “Issa” Magracia (17) was a beautiful architecture student at AMA Computer College. She was ambitious, dreaming of building a big house for her parents, a seamstress and an engineer.

On November 15, 2016, she received a Facebook message from Elrick Mojica (31), a former neighbor. Elrick posed as a talent scout, offering Melissa a modeling job for a hardware brand with a payment of Php 25,000.

Melissa was ecstatic, planning to use the money to buy a Christmas gift for her mother, Melita. However, Melita forbade her from going, sensing danger and wanting Melissa to focus on her studies. Melissa initially declined Elrick, but he was persistent, messaging her daily until she finally agreed, hiding the plan from her mother.

IV. THE DISCOVERY IN THE RIVER

On December 6, 2016, Melissa left school and headed to Indang for the “pictorial.” She texted her mother that she wouldn’t be home early. That was her last message. When she didn’t return, Melita contacted Melissa’s friends, who revealed she had met with Elrick.

Three days later, on December 10, a resident found a decomposing body in a river in Indang. Melita’s world collapsed when she identified the body as her daughter. The autopsy revealed Melissa had been stabbed five times and sexually assaulted.

V. THE “DANILO” ALIBI VS. DIGITAL EVIDENCE

Police tracked down Elrick Mojica on December 12. He admitted meeting Melissa but spun a wild tale. He claimed Melissa asked him for a job, so he referred her to a friend named “Danilo.” Elrick claimed that while walking to the location, “Danilo” and two other men held him at knifepoint, forced him to watch them assault Melissa, and then threw her into the river.

Police found his story fabricated. Chat logs proved Elrick initiated the offer, aggressively pursued Melissa, and set the schedule himself. Witnesses also saw Melissa begging for her life with four men, contradicting Elrick’s claim of being a passive victim.

Elrick was charged with Rape with Homicide. However, in a heartbreaking update from September 2024, Melissa’s mother revealed that eight years later, justice remains elusive, and the case is still dragging on in court.
