In a world increasingly driven by digital honor and the defense of private secrets, the boundaries between emotional betrayal and physical violence have become lethally blurred.

Our story examines the fates of two women in Indonesia and Vietnam whose lives were irrevocably changed—and in one case, almost ruined—by homicides stemming from exposed relationships, jealousy, and the desperate need for revenge.

Part I: The Homicide Over a TikTok Comment

The first case involves Sabrina Elvaret (20), a rising Dangdut singer and content creator from East Java, Indonesia.

Sabrina’s career was soaring, fueled by her talent and the strong support of her protective boyfriend, Daren (23), who worked in the event’s light and sound team.

Their supportive relationship was suddenly threatened in May 2025 when Sabrina held a live stream on TikTok.

During the stream, a fan named Wiliam Dianto (28) left a vulgar comment, praising her singing but adding a crude remark that questioned her physical appearance.

Sabrina was furious, feeling her dignity violated. She told Daren that she wanted revenge against the basher.

Daren, protective and enraged that his girlfriend had been publicly humiliated, tracked down Wiliam’s account. After Wiliam repeated the insult directly to Daren, Daren arranged a meeting at a public waiting shed.

Wiliam agreed to the meeting, not to apologize, but allegedly to further taunt the singer. Sabrina and her friends were present when Wiliam arrived.

When Daren and Wiliam confronted each other, the argument quickly escalated. Daren produced a knife and fatally wounded Wiliam.

Wiliam collapsed, and Daren and his friends sped away on their motorcycles, followed immediately by a panicked Sabrina. Wiliam was rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Daren voluntarily surrendered to the police the next day, confessing that he assaulted Wiliam because the basher had publicly humiliated his girlfriend.

Sabrina was also arrested for her alleged role in instigating the confrontation.

However, after six months in custody, Sabrina was released and cleared of conspiracy charges. The investigation found no conclusive chat or text message where Sabrina directly ordered Daren to commit the fatal assault.

Daren, however, was charged with premeditated murder. He now faces potential penalties of life imprisonment or the de@th penalty, paying a severe price for an act of violence driven by misplaced honor.

Part II: The Lover’s Pursuit and The Final Wounds

The second case involves Indara Pagawasti (32), a fast-food factory worker, and her husband, Mahar Suya Dudy (“Mike,” 33), a devoted delivery rider, in Bondowoso City, East Java.

The couple, who had three children, led a seemingly happy life until Indara became active on TikTok in January 2022. There, she was contacted by Budy Hortono (31), a divorced fruit vendor who lived nearby.

The daily chats quickly developed into a secret, forbidden relationship. Indara became bold, inviting Budy into her home while her children were away and her husband, Mike, was working long hours.

The two regularly committed infidelity in the couple’s marital bed, while Mike remained unaware, noticing nothing strange in his wife’s behavior.

The deception shattered on November 30, 2022, when Mike, feeling unwell from the heat, decided to end his delivery shift early and return home unexpectedly.

Mike quietly opened the door to his bedroom and was paralyzed by the sight: his wife, Indara, was in their marital bed with Budy, both of them partially clothed.

Mike immediately exploded in anger, physically assaulting Indara. Budy, the lover, quickly dressed and fled the room.

Mike, consumed by rage, immediately gave chase. He caught up with Budy, and the two men engaged in a struggle.

Budy grabbed a knife—his tool for cutting fruit—from his bag and fatally wounded Mike multiple times. Budy fled, leaving the delivery rider bleeding profusely in the street.

Mike was rushed to the nearest hospital, but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Budy was apprehended less than 24 hours later at his brother’s house. He confessed to causing Mike’s loss of life, claiming self-defense and arguing that he was protecting Indara from Mike’s anger. He also stated he couldn’t stand seeing Indara suffer because he loved her.

Indara was initially taken into police custody, where she remained for three weeks under investigation, suspected of planning the homicide with her lover.

However, the police later released Indara, citing insufficient evidence to prove she had ordered Budy to assault her husband.

Budy was convicted of murder and sentenced to 15 years in prison. While Indara was legally acquitted, the double tragedy—a man lost to rage and a family destroyed by betrayal—remains a devastating warning.
